NASTAR Center and the NASTAR Foundation have announced an exciting series of one-day professional-development workshops for teachers this summer.

All workshops, which are free for teachers, will take place at NASTAR Center, one of the world’s premiere commercial space training facilities.

During the Physiology of Flight workshop, teachers will experience an 8,000-foot ascent to 8,000 feet in the NASTAR altitude chamber. During the Acceleration workshop, they will simulate a 3G suborbital flight in NASTAR’s world-class centrifuge facility.

These experiences will be paired with relevant curriculum on topics such as Newton’s Laws and human respiration.

Other workshops to be offered this summer are 500 Years of Flight, The Atmosphere and Weather, Exploring the Solar System, The Magic of Flight, and Rocket Science. Workshops incorporate educational materials from the FAA and NASA, supplemented by NASTAR’s on-site Teacher Resource Center.

All workshops are approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education for continuing education credit. For out-of-town participants, NASTAR has arranged special pricing for hotel/meal packages at the Crowne Plaza Philadelphia-Bucks County hotel in nearby Feasterville.

Most workshops will be offered two or three times this summer, so teachers have a choice of dates. (Physiology of Flight will only be offered once.)
